Inspired by e e cummings.
A leaf to its stalk so happily bound
through sun and rain, a bond kept sound
A fine morning; the leaf wishes to explore
Branch to branch, and stalks galore.
The pain of a snap, forgotten to be free
The stalks agony, the leaf did not see.
Swayed from stalk, to branch, to tree
Living life by its own decree.
It had no wings; nor understanding,
that in its freedom, it was but falling.
And to the tune of the wind it might just sway
Only in a foliage; to fall, and there to stay.
